Acting can be an unpredictable industry. In order to build a sustainable and viable career in acting, you need to be flexible, resilient and open to using your transferable skills while you are waiting for the next acting job.
At Collarts, we understand that. Our lecturers are all industry leaders who have built sustainable careers in the unpredictable world of acting for stage and screen. We’ll help you build resilience, lateral thinking and transferable skills so that you can both follow your acting passion in the industry and work within the creative arts in other areas that complement your acting ambitions.
Our training not only equips you to work as an actor on screen and on stage, but also introduces you to other areas of theatre, including theatre administration, artistic curatorship, casting agencies, technical production, arts marketing, theatrical producing, theatre training.
We work closely with each student to develop their plans for a successful career that is both sustainable and fulfilling.

This performance-focused degree equips you for acting careers on stage and screen, while also building transferable skills for roles in theatre administration, casting, technical production, arts marketing, and theatrical producing. Collarts’ intimate, career-driven approach helps build resilient, sustainable pathways into the industry.
The Acting program is delivered entirely on-campus at Collarts’ Collingwood and Fitzroy locations, ensuring hands-on training, performance studio access, and real-world collaboration environments.
You’ll build skills in improvisation, acting techniques, performance studio practice, screen acting, devised work, collaborative theatre creation, and more – guided by industry professionals in intimate class settings.
Applicants are required to prepare and perform a short monologue (typically 2–3 minutes) for the Acting course. You'll also submit a 300-word statement explaining your passion and background in performing arts.
Located in Melbourne’s creative hub in Collingwood and Fitzroy, Collarts connects you to Melbourne’s thriving arts community – giving you access to professionals, venues and collaborative performance opportunities.
The program is delivered by nationally-recognised acting professionals, offering personalised mentoring and insights from current industry practice.
