What is VTAC?

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) handles the application and offer process for all year 12 high school students looking to take their next step in study in Victoria. All school leavers must apply via VTAC, but those who have already completed high school can apply directly on our website.

Step-by-step guide

Create a VTAC account

Before you do anything, you’ll first need to create an account on the VTAC website

Applications for courses commencing in 2027 are expected to open in early August 2026, with timely applications usually closing in early October 2026.

VTAC deadlines can change slightly each year, so be sure to check the official VTAC website to confirm the exact dates and avoid late application fees.

Select your courses

Under the ‘Course Application’ section, you can choose which courses and institutions you want. You’re able to select up to 8 courses, with 1 being your most preferred and 8 being your least preferred.

Make Collarts your 1st preference

Throughout the application period, you will have an opportunity to change your preferences before the main offer round. Log in to your VTAC account, open your course preference list and add, delete or re-order your course preferences.

Get results - Your ATAR doesn't define you.

In December, VCE results and your ATAR are released. This is your final opportunity to update your preferences before the first ATAR-based offer round.

You can only receive one offer per offer round, so make sure your preference list reflects where you most want to study.

Getting your full offer and offer acceptance on the day

On the 23 December 2025 at 10am, you can log into your VTAC account for the official first-round offers! One of our Future Student Advisors will reach out from 2pm on the day to congratulate you and walk you through the next steps.

On the same day you receive your official offer, you will be able to accept it and complete your acceptance form online. Just make sure you have your supporting documents on hand (USI and Tax File Number) to finalise your enrolment. The sooner you do it, the sooner you secure your spot!
